The organization's primary focus is to advocate for individuals with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities.

Advocacy takes many forms such as public speaking, working with legislatures, employers, clergy and service providers, assisting with ARDs and staffings, and giving testimony before a legislative committee or at a public hearing. The Arc tries to empower individuals and families to take care of themselves but the community is an important piece in accomplishing this task. Acceptance by the communities in which they live and having membership in those communities is vital to the advocacy efforts on behalf of these individuals and their families. We need you to become a member of The Arc of Fort Bend County if you are not a member. The more members we have, the stronger our voice is when we are advocating.
