Youth Group

The Arc's Youth Group was developed so that students with mental retardation or a related pervasive developmental disabilities, aged 12 to 21, and their student peers without disabilities can participate together in fun, social and recreational activities. At least one activity per month is scheduled from October through March. The students have enjoyed such activities as the Fort Bend County Fair, Texian Market Days, picnics, flying kites, fishing, dance lessons, treasure hunts at First Colony Mall, billiards, a Christmas Party and a Mardi Gras party, going to a high school football game, movies and bowling. Parents/caregivers are responsible for transportation to and from activities. Any fees associated with the activity are also the parents' responsibility, although every effort is made to organize events that have minimal costs. Adult Social/Recreation Club

The Adult Social/Recreation Club is a social/recreation club designed for post high school adults with mental retardation or a related developmental disability. We are a membership club participating in various fun activities. The club is sponsored and supported by the Arc of Fort Bend. Click here for more information.

The Activities We Offer

Each month the club offers a wide range of activities for members. Some of these are:

  • Dances
  • Sporting events such as the Houston Rockets, Comets, Astros, Aeros, etc.
  • Fort Bend County Fair and Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
  • Hay Rides, Bar-B-Ques
  • Gulf Greyhound Park
  • Lunch and Movies
  • Formal Christmas Dinner and Dance at a country club
  • Many other fun activities and events

To Become a Member

To be an active member of The Adult Social/Recreation Club, you must pay an annual $10 membership fee and complete the registration form. By joining the Adult Social/Recreation Club you are also becoming a member of The Arc of Fort Bend County. Thereafter you will need to remit your $15.00 per month dues by the 5th of each month. Payment for monthly dues can be made on line by clicking here. You may make checks payable to The Arc of Fort Bend County and mail it to The Arc. If you prefer you may pay your dues semi-annually or annually. Your $15.00 monthly dues pay for:

  • Tickets/fees for the events
  • DJ, Refreshments and Decorations for dances
  • Picnics, bar-b-ques, hay rides, etc
  • Transportation
  • Christmas Dance
  • Monthly Calendar
