Days seem to fly by faster each year! Hopefully, “Save the Date” information for this year’s Best in the West – November 9, 2024 – has already been added to your calendar. Once again, the bar-b-que dinner, dance and auctions benefiting The Arc of Fort Bend County will be held at the George Ranch Arena, 6:00 p.m.– 11:00 p.m. Live music will feature country music singer/songwriter Cooper Wade and the Unclaimed Freight. Live and silent auctions, a Bid Board, cash bar, and a photo booth will complete the evening’s entertainment.
This year, we are thrilled to announce that we are commemorating the 25th anniversary of Prosperity Bank – Sugar Land serving as Presenting Sponsor! Prosperity Bank is invested in helping families and businesses meet their financial goals and proudly serves our local community here and across Texas and Oklahoma.
Jenny Gortney, Senior Vice President, Prosperity Bank – Sugar Land, traced the beginnings of this partnership to the early 1990’s when the bank was approached by Jo Ann Stevens, event co-chair, who asked if the bank would like to sponsor the band for this event. They accepted, and the partnership began. Prosperity Bank – Sugar Land then became the first “Presenting Sponsor” of the Best in The West in 2000. This collaboration has promoted strong community support and participation for the Best in the West.
For Jenny, even though she had no personal connection to The Arc of Fort Bend, her work culture provided the opportunity to volunteer. It wasn’t until 2018, when her family needed assistance and they knew exactly where to go. With the much-appreciated emotional support and guidance of both CEO, Laura LaVigne, and Program Director, Karri Axtell, they are effectively navigating this journey. The Arc of Fort Bend County’s single mission is to ensure opportunities for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities to maximize their quality of life within our community.
