Independent Educational Evaluations in Texas Public Schools
Texas Public School Districts are responsible for identifying, evaluating, and providing a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) to all students who are eligible to receive special education services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).1 The District must conduct a Full Individual Evaluation (FIE), develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP), and provide special education services in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) to the student, at no cost to the parents.
